About Us

The Palos Village Players was founded in 1941 as an entertainment club for the village and area of Palos Park. Zay Smith, a resident architect and his wife and a few friends met to read plays. This was during the war and a way to bring the Arts to the area. In the spring of 1942 they decided to produce their first play. It was “The Torchbearers”. Zay and LeMay Smith remained active with the group into the 1970’s. We have produced plays nearly every year since that time. There was a time in the early 1960’s when the Village Hall was not available and the group was forced to bounce from venue to venue to produce their plays.
